TRAINING OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS IN REGIONS 4 AND 5

The National Council on Education is developing plans for the early training of newly- appointed school boards in Regions 4 (Hanover, St. James & Westmoreland) and 5 (Manchester and St. Elizabeth). The workshops are being organized  to assist the Board Members to better understand their roles and responsibilities. The areas to be explored include:

1. The legal and regulatory framework governing the operations of School Boards;
2. fiduciary responsibilities of school boards;
3.  the role of the School Board in promoting positive ethos;
4. effective financial management and strategies for  promoting the financial well being of the institutions.

The dates and venues for the workshops will be released as soon as they are finalized. The National Council on Education congratulates all School Board Members on their recent appointment and thanks them for volunteering to serve in a vital aspect of our nation's education system.
